Today Feb. 27th is National Neuter and Spay Day!!! Since this is a website for responsible dog owners, I thought I would remind everyone here how important it is to neuter and spay your dog(s). We would NEVER breed our dog on purpose, although she did have a litter with a lab for the daddy. Total accident, but she was was an excellent momma! Nearly 7 years later she was still a bitch, never getting pregnant again, and really no problems, she did well through her cycles. Being that we are responsible we did have our male neutered and never realized how important and life saving getting our girl spayed was.

One morning we woke up and had a dying dog! She was suffering from PYOMETRA! We called our vet as soon as he opened, we explained that she was panting and restless, she wouldn't eat or drink, she started vomiting and had a miserable look in her eyes, she was whimpering. It was a heart breaking, our vet said we have a fatal case here and leave NOW! 8 minutes later, we walked through the door and he had 4 viles of something, and the gurnee waiting! HE expained breifly,(while waiting for a quick blood test before operating) that he is certain she has an INFECTED UTERUS, we were lucky it hasn't ruptured YET!?! He'll try is best to move swiftly but not to bother the swollen toxic fluid filled uterus! OH MY GOD!!! My dogs life was in the hands of our family vet! We had stayed untill she fell out and on to the waiting gurniee.

HAVE YOUR PET SPAYED OR NETUERED! IT COULD SAVE THEIR LIFE!!!!
pit-lover-x212 Jun 2007 19:34 19:34
78 Hello everyone! Just wanted to share my latest experience with anyone who's willing to listen! we all know how important it is to spay and neuter our furry friends, but here is one story that will really show the importance of getting your bitch spayed. Last week my dog was rushed into emergency surgery. she was suffering from pyometra. It's an INFECTED UTERUS! This almost killed our 8 year young female Coca! This is a very common and mostly FATAL condition, in bitches over 6 years old. Our vet was really punctual and treated her immeditally. Her blood work is also suggesting possible liver damage. We know she is a tuff cookie and we pray every night that she will pull through this horrible experience. To anyone who has a breeding dog or just simply haven't spayed your female yet, I can't stress how important this somewhat simple proceedure is. Spaying your dog will save it's life from not only pyometra, but many other deadly complications. And the best dog is a rescued dog, so why even take the chance with breeding!?! Like Bob Barker says,"HAVE YOUR PET SPAYED OR NEUTERED".

Please take action, it only takes 1 minute!! BAN VICK!!!!!!!
pit-lover-x230 Jul 2007 17:09 17:09
Hello Everyone,

In the recent events of Vick's horrible actions, we all must take action. Log on to your local humane society, or even the United States Humane Society, There is a petition you can sign, asking the N.F.L to ban him from playing. Now that we're in the national spotlight again, let's all step up and stick togather! BAN THE DEED NOT THE BREED!! As always, take care and enjoy the rest of the summer!

These are our kids. We love our dogs more than anything. Coca is 7 and Rambo is 2 (Coca is white and Rambo is brindle). We also have a 5 year old cat who thinks he's a dog, his name is Charlie). Everyone gets along great. We have socialized both of our dogs to the best of our ability. They both walk on leash very well. We do go to a local dog park, but the only bullying is done by the little dogs, and the owners allow it! If the shoe was on the other foot, we'd be asked to leave! We do our best to advicate the good in these dogs and educate the unknowledged public. Never judge a book by it's cover!!
